Perplexus Speed Trials

Please email me to add new videos or fix/remove invalid links. Thanks! -Michael McGinnis

3/12/10: OFFICIALLY Beaten by the Brits! Mitch got from 1 to 26 (section one) in 12 seconds!

2/20/10: Here is my first attempt at a recorded time trial. I got from 1 to 26 (section one) in 14.15 seconds!

Although Perplexus can be fun and challenging just in the learning of it, at some point you’ll have garnered enough skill to get through it fairly consistently. That is when you can begin to play for SPEED! This is true competition: who can play the fastest? Somewhere in the world there has to be someone better than you. I will try to gather speed records here as I discover them.

Check back often, and ADD YOUR OWN SPEED VIDEOS as a video response to my page on You Tube!

Compete in a London pub Speed Competition!

In London, perplexus.co.uk is sponsoring speed competitions in local pubs throughout 2010. If you live in the area, you can contact them at 0845 500 1215, or email them. These will be the first official competitions in Europe. Of course, there will be similar competitions in the USA and world-wide over time. To jump start the process, contact PlaSmart (our distributor), Busy Life (our manufacturer), or me.

From the UK site:

“To be notified when the competitions start please email contact@perplexus.co.uk but in the short term note that the basic qualifying time for our competitions will be times under one minute so get practicing.”

At that rate, I do not qualify!

Over the years, my own skills have waxed and waned. At one point, it was easy for me to regularly beat 15 seconds on first section (1-26). When my son was 12, he could do the first section in under 11 seconds! WOW! Well, I am training again, but this time with the goal of getting through the whole thing (1-100) in less than 1.5 minutes.
