Superplexus Interlace

Birch Plywood, Acrylic Domes, Stainless Steel

Interlace contains six interwoven paths, each with unique endpoints. All paths are inexorably linked, yet are completely independent from the standpoint of play. The length of each path determines interaction time, and the number of plane changes differ (15, 18, 20, 24, 27, and 58) totaling 162. This design is ideally suited for time-limited play. Two museum commissions have been made. This 46″ design has path lengths totaling 281′.

Enclosed in a sphere and centered on a gimbal, this piece moves in every direction with the slightest touch, allowing the player to guide a ball along its path. It is part of the “Kinetic” series.
