Superplexus Vortex

Birch Plywood, Acrylic Domes, Stainless Steel, Jatoba

Vortex is loosely inspired by forms intrinsic to magnetic fields, where energy moves in a toroidal fashion. Visually, the interactive sculpture references such a construct, yet the pathway itself is far more convoluted. There are 435 plane changes in this overtly complex, and nearly impossible labyrinth. The pathway is 330′ long. Two 36″ diameter iterations have been commissioned; one for a private collection and another for a corporate client. If ordered, expect a lead time of three months.

Enclosed in a sphere and centered on a gimbal, this piece moves in every direction with the slightest touch, allowing the player to guide a ball along its path. It is part of the “Kinetic” series.
